Latest obsession

Because we like to be so late with trends that we lead the come back, we've finally gotten into Mad Men. We finished the first season over the weekend and are obsessed. But the thing is, we're not sure why. Many of the characters are jerks and each episode leaves us feeling a little melancholy. Then, the next morning we start talking about how we can't wait to see the next one. Sure, the style is fantastic and the portrayal of the era fascinating, and course it brings up the timeless question about being a housewife (is it supposed to be clever that Mrs. Draper's name is Betty?). And it makes me want to finish each day with a gin and tonic. But why are we so addicted?

  1. Um...because Don Draper is hawt. I also find myself fascinated by the tension and craziness just beneath the beautiful, shiny surface. It's like a Wharton novel only set in the 1960s.

  2. I couldn't agree with you more. We recently got addicted too and plowed through all the seasons available to us. We think it's the mysterious Don Draper that sucks you in.
